We are delighted to invite you to a dynamic dissemination event covering the main achievements and key results of the SAMVA project, a pioneering initiative aimed at increasing the adoption of EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) technology within the provision of rotorcraft and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) services and U-space integration. Partially funded by EUSPA (European Union Agency for the Space Programme), SAMVA is paving the way towards seamless integration of VTOL autonomous aircraft.
The SAMVA dissemination event will take place on October 4 2024, at the Lleida-Alguaire International Airport, Lleida, Spain, between 10:00 and 12:00 (with a closing networking lunch). The workshop will be followed on 5 and 6 October by Lleida Air Challenge, an interactive event comprising an air show, aeronautical conferences, an exhibition with over 100 stands and other engaging activities. Further dissemination of the SAMVA project will be ensured at the Lleida Air Challenge through distribution of project leaflets and presentations from the partners.
About the SAMVA Project:
The SAMVA (SBAS Adoption in Multicopter VTOL Aircraft) project is a significant step forward in enhancing the performance and safety of rotorcraft and eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) operations. Leveraging the high integrity and accuracy provided by EGNOS, SAMVA aims to facilitate all-weather operations in obstacle-rich environments and integrate advanced air mobility services into urban settings.
Since its inception in October 2022, the SAMVA project has achieved remarkable milestones, including the establishment of the first EGNOS-enhanced vertiport at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport. This site has hosted successful EH216-S eVTOL flight demonstrations, showcasing precise and reliable navigation crucial for safe unmanned aircraft operations.
The SAMVA project not only highlights the immediate benefits of EGNOS technology but also sets the stage for future advancements. By improving Emergency Medical Services (EMS), supporting autonomous eVTOL operations, and validating flight procedures, SAMVA is poised to revolutionize urban air mobility.
